Robe de Danse Parisienne

$325.00

16X20 archival acrylics on standard canvas. Abstract of a woman attending Paris ball on a foggy evening. Inspired by Cinnamon Cooney. Painted in 2018.

The only thing nicer than Paris in spring is attending a ball in Paris in spring. A French lady dons her best red ball gown. This foggy piece is inspired by Cinnamon Cooney, otherwise, known as The Art Sherpa. She tirelessly works teaching beginners techniques. She also works with them through their progression of acquiring skills in developing their own “voice”.

I still call on her videos to learn particular ways to paint loose. The videos are also helpful at learning to paint certain things such as water drops or train steam. This Paris ball lady in her fine dress is part of a collaboration with Angela Anderson, who also teaches. Cinnamon focuses on creative expression with this Paris piece and Angela focuses on techniques of depth perception, distance, and vanishing points with hers. Both were highly educational and worlds of fun in my earlier works. Their excitement and devotion are what kept me interested in painting. This expressive piece, with the Eiffel Tower in the background, captures the feel of a foggy Paris evening.
