Champs de Mars

$325.00

16X20 acrylics on standard canvas. This piece was inspired by a collaboration between Angela Anderson and Cinnamon Cooney. Angela focuses primarily on teaching composition design techniques with her share of the collaboration. Whereas, Cinnamon focuses on expressionism. (See Robe de Danse Parisienne.) The two together make a really nice pairing.

I love the hint of impressionism here. First, there is a hint of a couple walking hand-in-hand. Then, the box-cut, brilliant red trees appear oddly atypical. Finally, the ground may or may not appear wet. The viewer decides.

Initially, The Champs de Mars began as a place for Parisians to plant crops in the city. The soil was too infertile to support growing vegetables. Later, it became a green space for pomp & circumstance. Then, many awards were handed out there. Now, the setting makes a terrific study on the use of art techniques. Angela incorporates several on the perception of distance here. I enjoy learning new techniques that can be employed in almost any composition. These two teachers are incredible at providing useful content.
