I love the hint of impressionism here. First, there is a hint of a couple walking hand-in-hand. Then, the box-cut, brilliant red trees appear oddly atypical. Finally, the ground may or may not appear wet. The viewer decides.
Initially, The Champs de Mars began as a place for Parisians to plant crops in the city. The soil was too infertile to support growing vegetables. Later, it became a green space for pomp & circumstance. Then, many awards were handed out there. Now, the setting makes a terrific study on the use of art techniques. Angela incorporates several on the perception of distance here. I enjoy learning new techniques that can be employed in almost any composition. These two teachers are incredible at providing useful content.
