Portal to Paradise reminds me of the architecture that consumes much of Florida. Mediterranean style, while fairly common in Florida, is not often seen on the rural islands. There are some estate homes here in this style. You’ll often find them on the points of peninsulas overlooking the sea. You also find large patios flanked by columns of bright magenta bougainvilleas everywhere. They are gorgeous to look at but bear long thorns that can do serious damage to intruders or maintenance workers.
First, imagine waking up in the morning to step out onto a sunny lanai. Next, beautiful flowers are blowing in the breeze. Finally, you unlock the gate and step down to the sandy beaches before you. Now that’s paradise!
