The Dali-esque clouds in this regatta painting are from my dreams. This painting began as a cloud study. Dream clouds need a complement. I once sailed under puffy cumulus clouds with a group to the Dry Tortugas. I thought sailboats most fitting under the cloudy sky. The details of the boats then became my focus. The dreamy clouds hover over the sails that are reflecting their colorful sails and casting shadows onto clear turquoise waters. What a wonderful way to spend the days!
